Public Ventrilo
1/22/2008

The Watchdogs have decided to open up our ventrilo server to the public. Although those who choose to come onto our ventrilo server will have limited access, I think it will make communication much easier and give visitors incentive to visit our server on a more daily basis.

Below you will find some simple instructions on how you can get ventrilo and get connected to our server. You can also use the images below as a guide to configuring ventrilo to connect to our server, anywhere you see a red square you will need to click or configure something, replace your_name_here with your name.

  1. First your going to need to download the ventrilo 3.01 client and install it.
  2. Next your going to want to configure ventrilo to connect to our server. First you will want to click the arrow next to user name. You will get a dialog box where you will want to enter your name of choice; this will be the name others see you as. If you want you can also fill the phonic box with the same name; this will be the name people hear when you log in or out of ventrilo.
  3. After you have configured your user name click the arrow next to server. A dialog will pop up again and prompt you for some more information. You will click the new button and put in whatever name you want to call our server...watchdogs is a good example. Next you will need to fill the hostname or ip box in, there you will put 216.6.224.83. Next you will put in the port number which is 4943. Finally in the password box you will put brothers44. Close out of that dialog box and hit connect and if you have configured everything correctly you should now be on the Watchdogs ventrilo server.

If you need further help setting up ventrilo or have any other general questions about ventrilo make a post on our forums here and we will do our best to assist you any way we can.

Welcome to the home of the Watchdogs
1/20/2008

First, thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. It has been awhile since the web site was last updated so you will find a good amount of new information on the site. We encourage you to stop by our forums and say hello. You can post questions about our servers, our web site, and anything else you can think of here or by accessing the forums by clicking the forums button on the menu to your right.

The Watchdogs have been around since the release of the medal of honor series about five years ago. Floyd's Darkside spearhead server was where the founding members of Watchdogs first met each other. After playing on Floyd's Darkside for some time our group, now known as the Watchdogs was formed. The core group consisted of maybe six or seven people and over the past five years or so the original core group has grown into about twenty or so members who form a very tight knit group. We do not consider ourselves a clan but rather a family of sorts. With the exception of a couple members most of us are over the age of thirty, have families and jobs, and enjoy gaming for a couple hours just about every evening.

We have been running game servers for about the same length of time as we have been around so for the most part our servers are very stable and accessible by all who wish to game with us. We have admins on every night during our peak hours as well as some admins watching the servers through third party programs outside the game throughout the day. We currently run Punkbuster on all our server as well as stream to PBBans to further keep our server free of cheats and hackers.

As of January 11, 2007 we have one Call of Duty: Modern Warfare server up and running 24/7. The server is ranked and runs all stock maps and settings. Map length is set to 15 minutes or the first team to reach 2500 points. For more information about this server check out our servers page.

Recruitment is always open and if you are interested in joining the Watchdogs please visit our recruitment forum. In most cases we will only recruit people who are 18 or older. We are a very casual group that does not often participate in matches between other groups or tournaments of any kind; keep this in mind when applying to join.

Again, thank you for taking the time to visit us and we hope to see you on our server.
